Challenge

Hot Steppa is a mobile sound system and record label operating between Los Angeles and Kingston, Jamaica — featuring top DJs and artists across showcase events, performances, and releases. The brand needed a cohesive identity that could travel between both cities and hold its own in two very different music scenes. From the signature sound truck to stage presence to vinyl sleeves, every touchpoint needed to feel unmistakably Hot Steppa. The challenge was building a visual identity versatile enough to work across event flyers, apparel drops, record label artwork, music video production, and the mobile sound system itself — while staying rooted in the culture of dancehall, reggae, and LA's Caribbean diaspora.

Solution

We developed the complete Hot Steppa brand from the ground up — a visual system built to move between Kingston street dances and LA warehouse parties without missing a beat. The identity draws on sound system heritage with a modern edge: bold typography, a versatile logo system, and a tonal palette that works on everything from the branded vintage sound truck to screen-printed merch. For events, we designed promotional materials, stage graphics, and social content templates that give each showcase its own character while maintaining brand consistency. On the label side, we created artwork direction for releases — cover art, single artwork, and visual treatments that carry the Hot Steppa aesthetic across streaming platforms and physical media. Apparel design extended the brand into streetwear — capsule collections and event-exclusive pieces that fans actually want to wear. For music video production, we provided styling direction and creative consultation to ensure the visual identity translated to screen.
