A collaboration with Elamental Immersive and New York–based artist Alison Scherr, designing an augmented reality experience that extends her paintings beyond the canvas.
Alison Scherr is a New York–based artist whose painting practice explores texture, form, and emotional resonance through physical materials. The challenge was to design an augmented reality experience that allowed her paintings to extend beyond the canvas while remaining grounded in the integrity of the original work.
Rather than treating the paintings as objects to be animated, the AR experience was built by listening to the work itself — its rhythm, restraint, and internal logic. Subtle motion, spatial layering, and intentional pacing were used to unfold additional dimensions of the paintings without overpowering them. The result invited viewers to slow down, move differently through the space, and engage with the artwork in a more immersive and sustained way. This project demonstrates how augmented reality can function as a thoughtful extension of physical art — enhancing presence and depth without distraction.
